Google Authenticator application keeps the secret keys on your phone, generating the codes every time you open the application. not sure if I even need that. The main difference between Google Authenticator and Yubico Authenticator lies in how both applications handle the secret keys used to generate time-based OTP codes. I read over the yubi support document but it appeared to me to only be talking about having the app on one device, I am wondering about having it on multiple for redundancy. I know I should just sit down and try it, but was hoping there is a guide. would I just put that into the one phone and it would then move to the next phone I have the yubi auth app on when I authenticate the key to it? Or should I be scanning the same QR code for websiteA into each phone/computer running the Yubi Auth app? Is the key just authenticating me to the yubi auth app or is the key storing the 2FA secret inside it? but I am not sure how to configure it across multiple devices.įor example if I go to websiteA and turn on 2FA, it gives me the QR code. I understand that the Yubico Authenticator app is good for the services using auth apps (like google auth etc). Hello everyone, I recently got a Yubikey 5 NFC and and getting ready to start using it more (I have had yubikey fido devices for some time but this is the first "full featured" yubi I have used).
